Last night at the CHS pool, Concord girls slashed the Goshen swim team. The girls won 100-83, improving their record to 7-3.
“It was a lot harder than some of the other meets,†Jenn Dawson (9) said. “We lost by only one point to them last year.â€
Dawson hit her personal best in the 100 breaststroke, winning with a time of 1:16.9.
Other wins included Paige Conder (11) in the 200 individual medley, Taylor Beck (10) in the one-meter diving, Lauren Hardy (9) in the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle relay, composed of Madison Freeze (9), Gabby Ziebold (11), Brit North (12) and Hardy. Their wins fell short of half of the events, but the depth of their team won out.
“They were beating us halfway through the meet, but luckily our team pulled together,†Megan Glanders (10) said.
One of their strongest assets, Glanders said, was the freshmen.
“A lot of the freshmen have been huge,†Glanders said. “They’re already experienced so it’s not like the upperclassmen have to fill in the voids.â€
The girls will swim again at home on Saturday, January 13. They compete against NorthWood at 9:15 a.m.
“We should win,†Dawson said.
