On Saturday, February 10, girls swimming ended for the season when Gabby Ziebold (11), Lauren Hardy (9), Madison Freeze (9) and Brit North (12) competed at state. The four girls swam in the 200 freestyle relay. In addition, Ziebold swam in the 100 butterfly. Neither team placed in the top 16.

“We did good, but not as good as we wanted to,” North said. “We were nervous and a lot of the girls were bigger than us. A lot of them were huge; they were like cows.”

Interestingly, two of the state competitors were freshmen, both significantly contributing to their records this season.

“It’s always a little intimidating, but it’s good to be up there with the upperclassmen,” Freeze said.

The girls’ overall team record is 8-3. They placed third at NLCs and second at sectionals.

“I’m sad [the season is over], but then again, I’m relieved,” North said.

Look for the girls next season. On behalf of the Spirit, congratulations on an outstanding season!
