Clark: Senior ready for the new season

This year, at Concord High School, eight seniors are ready to play America’s favorite sport, especially the team’s third base player, Nate Clark (12).
“Tryouts went well,” Clark said, “we have lots of talent this year.”
As far as the talent goes the boys are in great shape.

“We have a lot of senior leadership and we have nine players who have been together for at least six years,” Clark said.

With six years of playing together, the boys have an extra advantage over other teams. Knowing and being around each other is definitely something that the boys can use to benefit themselves as a team.

“We have a lot of chemistry as seniors, but also as a team,” Clark said.

They know that being around each other is extremely beneficial but they also recognize the reality that they still must work hard in order to have a strong team.

“It’s always a struggle to beat teams like Penn, but I think we have a good chance of advancing past sectionals this year, especially with our experienced players,” Clark said.

Looking ahead to sectionals is always exciting, but the boys like to focus on one game at a time.

“Focusing one game at a time is how we like to do it; we set a lot of goals for ourselves at the beginning of the year, and gradually reach them game by game,” Clark said.

Although the boys are psyched and ready for a challenge, they still face doubt in the games against larger schools.

“We’ve only beaten Penn once in however many years I have played baseball, but that changed last year when we beat them in a double header,” Clark said. “Hopefully we can get a streak going.”
