When Steve Alford, former University of Iowa coach, announced that he was leaving for the University of New Mexico, Dairese Gary (12) was not sure what to do. Alford had recruited Gary, ranked the third highest scorer in CHS history, when Gary was only a sophomore. Gary’s release was granted last week, and the star CHS player was unsure of his options.

He admitted to considering Western Michigan, the location of his older brother Shawntes. On Monday, however, he signed a new national letter of intent for the University of New Mexico. Gary is excited by the prospect of playing for Alford, and continues to work diligently to stay in shape.
