Jeremy Howard (12) knows success. After making it to state in football, being named all-state in football and receiving the academic all-state award, he is adding one more item to his list: earning a full-ride scholarship to Tri-State in Angola. Unlike some of his peers, however, Howard plans on playing more than one sport.
When asked to decide between his love of baseball, which began at age six, and his love of football, which started in the 7th grade, he was at an utter loss. When asked to choose which he performed better at, he fared slightly better.
   “Everybody says football,” Howard said.
Howard anticipates athletics at Tri-State with mixed feelings.
“I’m a little nervous to get out of high school, but I’m getting to the point where I’m getting ready to get out there,” Howard said. “Practices are probably going to be a lot more tougher. The coaches, they won’t hold your hand.”
On the other side, Howard looks forward to intense team dynamics and a closer group.
“I think that the teams, we’re going to have a lot more fun,” Howard said.
Howard, who plans on majoring in elementary educations, chose Tri-State for more reasons than the athletic scholarship.
“Out of all the colleges I looked at, I felt Tri-State had the best environment I could relate to.”
