Food Drive

Sometimes doing nice things can get you out of a detention.

A food drive sponsored by Key Club and student council will be conducted next week to raise food for the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.

“We’ve tried to do a food drive every year but this year we have a specific week, so things will be a little different”, Heather Bohn (associate principal’s secretary) said.

The Food Bank of Northern Indiana and the National World War II Museum have joined together in a “We’re All in this Together” School Food Drive to educate staff and students about hunger during World War II in honor of Veteran’s Day.

“When it came to us originally it was to remind us of World War II”, Carolyn Schaffer (career information specialist) said. “I think that it’s good to have a school food drive to remind us of what people went through then”.

Not only does the food drive benefit the less fortunate of Northern Indiana, it also benefits the staff and students of CHS. Donating five items or more on November 8 allows staff to wear jeans and gives students an ID exemption if they don’t have theirs, according to Bohn.

“We’re trying to encourage everyone to participate”, Bohn said.

If you would like to help, bring items to the main office or career room.
