Concord will try for its third sectional title in a row against the Lowell Red Devils Friday  night. CHS is one of the 16 teams left and is the only local 4A school still running for the championship.

“Lowell is a good team and will come straight for us, they won’t pull any fancy stuff on us they’re going to get right on the line and go for us with their running offense,” Tim Dawson (head coach) said.

Concord brings a 8-3 record against a tough 10-1 opponent in Lowell. So far Lowell has destroyed opponents with their running game this season.

“After beating Kankakee Valley, the team’s confidence level has raised and for every win we get another week of fun and practices,” Dawson said. “To win against a running team like the Red Devils, we’re going to have to limit their possession and at least score three or more touchdowns.”

Despite going head to head with a 10-1 team, the team is confident and has prepared for this challange.

“We know what they can do we have seen them for the third time in three years. The first year they beat us, the second year we beat them but this will be a tie breaker here. Lowell is a team that is ranked in both polls and will be a great opponent.”

The winner of the game will go onto face either Griffith or Hobart for the Regional Championships next week.

Kickoff for Friday’s game is 8 p.m. at Concord. The cost is $5 and tickets are available in the athletic office.
