Turnovers doom CHS

Last Tuesday night the Concord Lady Minutemen fell to the Lady Jimmies from Jimtown by a score of 41-25. Turnovers plagued CHS as they turned the ball over 23 times, while Jimtown only turned it over eight times. Had it not been for Andrea Bozzo’s (11) three pointer in the final seconds of the game, CHS would have had more turnovers than points.

Coming off an impressive win over Goshen on January 10, the girls looked to extend their winning streak but were unable to get into a rhythm early in the game. Jimtown was able to jump out to a comfortable 24-14 lead by halftime and continued to build on that as the game progressed. Kim Swain (12) and Khristian Hildreth (12) led CHS with six

points each while Trenee Brownlee (9) chipped in with four points of her own. Sammy Swain (9) and Bozzo each added three points in the losing effort.

Sarah DeShone’s hype fit the billing as she led the Lady Jimmies with 13 points as well as grabbing five of the team’s 13 rebounds. Deshone forced the Minutemen defense to focus so much on her that she allowed her teammates to get open shots at the basket. Emma Stahl was the main beneficiary as she scored 10 points and dished out five assists, as well as coming away with four steals.

Overall, CHS struggled mightily against the stingy Jimtown defense. But on this night the ball didn’t bounce in their favor, and the shots weren’t falling like they have in past games.
